Ki-Ké (Luis Enrique) Sanchez
![]() BIOGRAPHY Born in Lima, Peru, Ki-Ké Sanchez was born into a musical atmosphere that would influence his playing. He began his formal education in Peru with Coco Macedo and Edermi Chavez. During this time he began molding himself into a well-rounded musician by playing in local bands such as: La Peru Salsa All-Stars, Orquesta Majestic (led by his father, Maximo Sanchez) and La Unica (led by Anibal Lopez). These experiences were the initial building blocks to his future in the United States. To further propel his musical career, he decided to move from his comfortable local success in Lima to the United States. Settling eventually in Miami, Florida, he studied with such Jazz Piano greats such as Jim Gasior, Mike Gerber and Mike Orta. He polished up his classical chops with Diana Molinari and Cassandra Hanna. Thriving with constant activity, he became much in demand for recording sessions with local talents. He shares recording credits with Franklin Marcus, Arturo Sandoval, Israel "Cachao" Lopez, and Oriente (led by Eddie Barzola). He is currently working on a new album of his own which showcases his signature fusion of Peruvian-folkloric rhythms with modern jazz melodies.
